Position Announcement

The Extension Assistant will direct non-credit, online content delivery to the public. The successful candidate will develop and teach online classes, market the program & courses, manage registration, evaluate classes and manage finances.

Online classes are hosted on the MOODLE platform at NC State University. Registration is run through the REPORTER system. Currently, there are three six-week plant identification classes, each offered twice a year: Trees, Shrubs, and Conifers; Edibles, Bulbs, and Houseplants; and Annuals, Perennials, Vines, and Groundcovers. In addition, Understanding Plants, a seven-week course on botany, is offered once a year. This position is self-funded through registration fees and is responsible for all administrative tasks. The incumbent will serve as a liaison to Longwood Gardens, The North Carolina Botanical Garden, and other partners.
This position is at 0.50 FTE (20 hours).
