10/19/21 – Schlumbergera truncate

This tough epiphytic succulent has showy flowers that bloom in the winter, usually around Thanksgiving, hence the most popular common name Thanksgiving Cactus. It is also known by many other common names and is sometimes confused with the true Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera x buckleyi).

Amaryllis is native to South Africa and typically blossoms around March. Amaryllis bulbs are large, 2 to 4 inches, in diameter. Each bulb produces a cluster of two to twelve funnel-shaped flowers.
