If exploring Holland during the peak of tulip season is on your bucket list, join us on a boutique tour of flower farms and markets, botanical gardens, arboreta, private gardens, and estates across four Dutch provinces.



  • Amsterdam Tulip Festival
  • Hortus Botanicus Leiden: Built in 1590, scientists from all over the world conduct research in the renowned collection containing rare plants from Southeast and East Asia, Southern Europe, and South Africa, some of which are almost extinct in the wild.
  • Keukenhof Estate:  Widely touted as the most beautiful spring garden in the world
  • Royal Flora Holland:  International floriculture marketplace
  • Museum of the Black Tulip:  Located in the center of Lisse, the museum focuses on flower bulb culture and art.
  • Royal Delft Museum:  Established in 1653, the last remaining original Delftware factory is producing hand-painted Delft Blue according to centuries-old tradition.
  • Tropenburg Arboretum:  With a large collection of trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, and tubers, this 20-acre oasis of tranquility is outside the Rotterdam city center.
  • Other historic sites in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Arnhem.

This trip, like other Extension Gardener Travel Study Adventures, includes:
Throughout the entire trip

  • ​an expert local guide
  • a​ knowledgeable local bus driver and
  • NC ​State Extension professionals (Matt Jones and Leslie Rose) who take care of you every step of the way
At each destination
  • ​Guides with specific expertise about the destination
​Created specifically for gardeners, travelers have an opportunity to build relationships across the state and around the world with others passionate about plants. The groups are intentionally kept small for an exceptional experience. Extension Master Gardener volunteers can apply to their county agent for continuing education credits.


Program cost:

  • $4,985 (double occupancy room),
  • $5,895 (single occupancy room).
  • The fee includes all lodging, meals, guides, entrance fees, and transportation within the country but does not include airfare to Amsterdam.
  • A $1,000 deposit per person is due ​by February 9, 2024
  • ​The final payment is due by March 16, 2024.
