*The Buzz on Insects in the Spring*

bees 2Carpenter bees are beginning to buzz around wooden structures.  If you want to get rid of them swatting them with your tennis racket is faster and has fewer environmental impacts than pesticides.

At this time of the year, honeybees swarm leaving their hives to seek new homes.  These swarms can take a few days to find a permanent home.  They are not aggressive and should be left alone.  During the months of March, April, May and June beekeepers will collect homeless swarms. Check with your Cooperative Extension center for a list of  local beekeepers.
