NC State Extension Gardener LogoGarden and Landscape Classes Online!

Do you want to learn more about growing edibles and ornamentals — everything from soils on up including design, care, pest management and more? Does your busy schedule prevent you from taking face-to-face classes?

Girl putting soil in a bucket

The NC State Extension Gardener program is proud to offer a series of fully online, asynchronous Gardens, Lawns, and Landscapes 5 course series  that cover everything from soils to edibles, pests to weeds, herbs to trees, and most things in between.

These are NOT Extension Master Gardener℠ certification courses. If you are interested in becoming a Master Gardener volunteer please contact the Extension Master Gardener Coordinator in your county for information on training requirements and volunteer opportunities.

The courses include interactive forums, hands-on activities (done in your landscape and garden), and interviews with experts from around the state that will answer your questions. Lifetime access to the Top Hat interactive version of the Extension Gardener Handbook is included in the price of the class.

You can complete the course on your own schedule during the 6-week period! After 6 weeks the instructor engagement period for the course ends but you can continue to work on the course for up to one year after the initiation of your account if you need more time. You will have access to course material for the life of the course – beyond the one year mark!

Depending on your interest you could spend several hours a week or more engaged in the interactive online content and videos.

Sign up for the 5-course series at any time during the year. The courses are stand-alone and none of them require the completion of other courses prior to enrollment. The schedule will be similar each year so you can start the 5-course series with any course and simply continue in the series through the following year.

Complete all 5 of the 6-week courses and earn a
Garden and Landscape Certificate of Mastery
from the NC State Extension Gardener program
in the Department of Horticulture Science.

2024 Schedule

Each course is $149
